No war, No where, No way!

Fried:A, the Altona Peace group, has been around since May 2022. Fried:A is an association of people with different political and ideological backgrounds. What unites Fried:A is
the insight of Nobel Peace Prize Winner Bertha von Suttner: There can only ever be losers in war. Fried:A is committed to the peaceful resolution of conflicts around the world. The group is convinced that weapons must be silenced, because more can be achieved through negotiation based on understanding rather than through armed force. For this reason, the group criticises Germany‘s worldwide arms exports and calls for their immediate end.

As a Hamburg institution, Fried:A emphasises the role of the Port of Hamburg, which is a hub for global arms shipments on a daily basis. Fried:A is committed to the preamble to the Hamburg Constitution: ‘The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg … wishes to be a mediator between all continents and peoples of the world in the spirit of peace.’

As a German peace group, Fried:A refers to the Basic Law (Grundgesetz). The preamble states: ‘Inspired by the determination to promote world peace as an equal partner in a united Europe, the German people, in the exercise of their constituent power, have adopted this Basic Law.’

FriedA also refers to a number of more recent agreements which state that security must always take into account the security interests of all parties concerned. These agreements include:
The Treaty on the Final Settlement with respect to Germany, which speaks of the determination ‘to take account of everyone‘s security interests’.

The Charter of Paris of 1990, which states: ‘Security is indivisible and the security of every participating State is inseparably linked to that of all the others.’

every Saturday from 11am to 1pm, Fried:A is active for peace in the Goetheplatz, Hamburg- Altona. There, the peace group distributes its latest leaflets, displays posters and home- made banners and we give short speeches, read out poems and play music. in addition to these activities, Fried:A organises discussions and readings with renowned people and is present as an alliance partner at community festivals and larger events.

We usually meet on the last Wednesday of every month at 7pm in im Willkommenkultur- haus, Bernadottestr. 7, 22763 Hamburg. .Anyone who wants to join us is very welcome!
